Capital were appointed the preferred supplier for demolition of the Taj on Swan by the Shire of Peppermint Grove in 2016. The Taj on Swan had been an iconic building in Perth, Western Australia: previously a planned elaborate mansion, it deteriorated over time. The building was never finished and instead became littered with graffiti and a spot for midnight parties.
Large crowds came to watch the building’s demolition. Before its demolition, the Taj on Swan was considered an ‘eyesore’ in the local community.
At Capital Recycling, we care not just about doing a qualified demolition job, but also ensuring that as much building waste as possible gets recycled. As part of the Taj on Swan demolition project, most of the building waste products were recycled. The entire structure – excluding foam and end-of-life material – was turned into road base at Capital’s recycling facility.
Capital Recycling offers a waste removal service in which we take bricks, concrete, footings, clean rubble, limestone and sand and remanufacture them into road base and drainage rock. We do this through crushing and screening with a fleet of mobile crushers and screening units. We were honoured to do this residential demolition and recycle the waste building materials into something new.
